Birmingham, winners of the Daily Telegraph Cup. Sandra Turner Linden Netball Club commented as follows : That was a great season for Birmingham. We won the Daily Telegraph Cup, Inter Counties and English Counties League Division 1. Such a fantastic team – 7 of the squad of 10 were international players. Also and as always, amazing coaching from Captain and Player Coach Colette Thomson They were great times for Birmingham County!

The Daily Telegraph and Channel 4 TV created a first for County Netball when England’s top four county netball teams competed for The Daily Telegraph Cup in front of Channel Four television cameras at Crystal Palace National Sports Centre on Saturday 25th February 1989.  The teams  Surrey, Birmingham,   Essex Metropolitan and Hertfordshire had earned the right to compete by having already secured the top four places in the English Counties League.   Winners Birmingham, runners-up Essex Metropolitan, third place Hertfordshire and Surrey 4th.
