In 1994, the All England Netball Association was offered the opportunity by Harkness Roses of Letchworth (just up the road from the Hitchin HQ) to name a new rose with Netball in mind. Following a tough selection process of the many names put forward from members across the country, the winner was RISING STAR by Helen Watt. The runner up was Fiona Harrison with HIGH FLYER.
