1980 The St Albans and District Tournament

Westminster 1, Division 1 winners of the St Albans & District tournament 1980

The St Albans Review and Express reported on the 1980 St Albans and district Netball Association Tournament in their 24 April edition of 1980. It was apparently a sunny but cold day on 19 April when the end of season tournament took place.

Nineteen teams took part in the tournament. The overall winners of the tournament and winners of Division 2 were Mount Grace Old Scholars. You can see a picture of them on the right of this page with their cup and shield. Members of the team are as follows:

Top row, left to right –  Lesley Lambert, Libby Atkins, Alison Burbridge, Viv Arnold

Bottom row, left to right – Anne Williams, Gill Plant, Val Vincent, Janette Day.

The runners up in the tournament were Vikings, who came 2nd and Kardale 1 who came 3rd.

The winners of Division 1 were Westminster 1, pictured in the lower image on the right with their cup. Team members aare as follows:

Margaret Kimber, Jenny Gauthier, Sue Hollingsworth, Margaret Graham, Sue Burton, Angie Courtnage, Barbara Lunnun.

The prizes were presented by the Chairman of the Association, Mrs Ann Corlett.
