Surrey Netball '321' tournament

Joan Mills

Friends joined forces to participate in the 1989 ‘321’ Tournament – run annually by Surrey County Netball Association at Nonsuch Park.  Netballers from Chislehurst, Kent Club and Aquila formed the KentHurst team (blue bibs) and won the tournament, with Wealden (another Kent club) runners up.

The rules of the ‘321’ meant that each team had to have a minimum of 321 years playing at any one time, giving an average age of nearly 48 years per player.   KentHurst had players of more ‘mature’ years which meant they could have a 21 year old shooter on court!

Back Row – Irene Pearson, Sue Fennell, Cathy Hickey, Chris Gerety, Di Littleton, Penny Hemmings, Karen Tappin, Shirley Winsborrow.

Front Row – Joan Mills, Jenny Clark, Marianne Morris, Delia Moss, Maureen Martyn, Pat West, Penny Daniel, Barbara Gow.
